CeaseFire Cincinnati is a community-based campaign to stop shootings and killings in Avondale. CeaseFire is based on a model from Chicago that saw a 42% reduction in shootings and killings in CeaseFire neighborhoods after its first year of implementation. We want to see an end to the shootings and killings in Avondale - but this depends on the support of the community. Please join us at the following events and help us to spread the word: “Stop the Shooting, Stop the Killing.” How to Get Involved…
Shooting Responses—After every shooting resulting in injury in Avondale, CeaseFire organizes a public response within 72 hours to call attention to the shooting and to encourage nonviolence. We need as many people as possible to attend shooting responses to spread our message in the streets of Avondale! Please call (513) 675-4102 when you hear about a shooting to find out when and where our responses will take place.
Vigils—CeaseFire organizes a prayerful vigil every 2 months to support those who have experienced the loss of a loved one due to gun violence in Avondale.
Canvassing—CeaseFire has street level Outreach Workers who identify youth from the community to who are at highest risk to engage in gun violence and help those who are willing to change their lifestyle. Canvassing is one way that volunteers can support & assist Outreach Workers, by distributing CeaseFire information to make Avondale residents aware of outreach services.
